Maasmechelen

Maasmechelen is a city located in the Maas River Valley in Limburg, Belgium, with an area of about 76.28 square kilometers and a population of 38.933. After the mine was shut down, Maasmechelen was mainly engaged in regional tourism. An Outlet was built in the former mine area. Another attraction is the heathlands to the west of the town, with its many walking and cycling trails. The Meuse River itself is also a attraction for many people, and it is possible to go boating on it. Since riverboats use a parallel canal here, the Meuse itself remains in a near-natural state. In addition, the railway left by the mine is also a tourist attraction today, and it is available for tourists to ride in the park.

Main operators
Proximus - Headquartered in Brussels, Proximus (formerly Belgacom Group) is Belgium's largest telecommunications group. The Belgian government holds a 53.51 percent stake in the company and remains the majority shareholder of the former state-owned company. In the future, all belgacom's fixed-line, Internet and mobile services, including fixed-line, TV, and Internet services, will belong to the Proximus brand. Two Belgian telecom operators, Proximus and Orange, announced last week that they plan to merge their respective mobile networks in preparation for 5G commercial use. The merger is expected to save Proximus between 35 million and 40 million euros from 2024 due to lower maintenance and energy costs. Proximus also said the agreement would reduce energy use by around 20%, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 10,000 Belgian homes.

Orange Belgium – Orange Belgium, through its subsidiary Orange Communications Luxembourg, is one of the major players in the Belgian and Luxembourg telecom markets. The company provides prepaid mobile services and subscription services to residential customers, as well as a range of other innovative telecommunications services. Orange is also an all-in-one operator, offering TV and Internet services through cable networks in Belgium. Orange has more than 3 million subscribers in Belgium and Luxembourg and operates a premium mobile network, which is the subject of permanent investment. The company's high-performance network offers 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G+ and 4.5G technologies.

Telenet - Telenet Group N.V. is the largest wireline broadband service provider in Belgium. Telenet provides residential services under the Telenet Internet brand name by combining its broadband cable network, which covers approximately 2.4 million households in parts of the Flanders and Brussels regions. Since July 2006, Telenet Mobile provides mobile telephony services as a full MVNO using the Mobistar MNO network (now Orange Belgium). It has more than 80,000 customers. It competes with Proximus, the mobile network operator owned by Belgium's state-owned telecommunications company Proximus Group.

Base - Base is a subsidiary of Telenet and the third of the three largest mobile telecom operators in Belgium. It has a 26% market share in the field of mobile communications. Base's GSM network covers 98% of Belgium. In 2007, Base also launched a UMTS network. The provider has 2.358 million customers. Besides UMTS and GSM, Base also provides GPRS and EDGE data services.
Testing scenarios

1. The parish church was built by order of the Santa Barbara Mining Company and designed by Uccle architect Auguste Van nieuwenborg. It is dedicated to Saint Barbara, patron saint of miners. The church is a Neo-Gothic style building, displayed with a reinforced skeleton of brick walls. The church is 56 meters long and has a tower 53 meters high. The reds and blues on the beautiful stained glass windows are from the red and blue windows of Chartres Cathedral. This area can be written to conduct weak signal weak network related tests, and 4G dynamic and static related tests around the church.

2. In the heart of the verdant Belgian province of Limburg, near the crossroads where Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany meet, Maasmechelen Village is a sophisticated open-air shopping destination featuring some of the world's leading brands. These include more than 100 boutiques from brands like BOSS, The North Face and American Vintage, all offering year-round savings of up to 60% off recommended retail prices. Nestled among the village's elegant boutiques are its four restaurants serving delicious local and international cuisine. Handover tests from 4G to 3G can be performed in this area.

Traffic
Maasmechelen is located directly on the highway 2 connecting Belgium. The road starts in Aachen, passes through Sittard, crosses the Belgian-Dutch border at Maasmechelen, and then leads to Antwerp via Genk. It is connected to the European inland waterways by a canal, the Maasmechelen. Maastricht-Aachen Airport in the Netherlands is just a few kilometers away from Maasmechelen.
Project summary
From September 1, 2019 to November 8, 2021, the Belgian field test team successfully completed 50 field test projects of 3 well-known mobile phone brands. Customers gave high praise to the professionalism and test initiative of the front testers.
