FCC is an acronym for Federal Communications Commission, the regulatory entity that regulates radio equipment under the Code of Federal Regulations.
FCC has two different equipment authorization approval procedures - certification (Certification) and supplier's declaration of conformity (Supplier's Declaration of Conformity - SDoC). Different products are suitable for one or more approval procedures according to their different functions. Certification is the most stringent RF equipment approval process for products most likely to cause harmful interference to radio services. It is an equipment authorization issued by the TCB by evaluating the supporting documents and test data submitted to the TCB by the responsible party (such as a manufacturer or importer).
Product testing for the certification program needs to be conducted at an accredited testing laboratory recognized by the FCC. When choosing a product for the Certification program, you need to ensure that the FCC identifier (FCC Identifier), that is, the FCC ID, is on the product Label.
A Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) is a procedure that requires the person responsible for product quality to ensure that the equipment complies with the corresponding technical standards. The responsible party does not need to submit an application for equipment authorization to the Commission or TCB to complete the Declaration of Conformity, but the responsible party or importer (distributor) must provide test reports and other information proving compliance with the rules according to the Commission's requirements. The responsible party of SDoC must be an entity registered in the United States. Products within the scope of SDoC can also choose to use the certification process; but products within the scope of certification control can only choose the certification process.
